About Yulia
Yulia fuses analogue and digital practices through her extensive knowledge of human-centered design, IoT technologies, cognitive science and traditional textile and silversmithing techniques. Her aim is to advance the multidisciplinary field of wearable devices with an emphasis on human experience and development of meaningful artifacts.
Yulia was a maker from a young age and began her explorations in computer science in the early 90-es. During her fruitful international career as a commercial designer and independent artisan, Yulia became interested in what happens when traditional artifacts begin to merge with wearable technology. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations and sharing and translating knowledge across disciplines. In her PhD at Queen Mary University of London, Yulia is currently developing computational jewelry, expanding the interaction vocabulary of social wearables and exploring their role in mediating human relationships. |
